What is cutter suction dredger? 

Type: The dredger is made of marine steel construction, self-propelled or non self-propelled with dismountable type.

Structure: The dredger is consisted with three pontoons, one main pontoon (engine room with diesel engines, dredging pump, generator and hydraulic system etc.), and two side pontoons.

Size: All parts are dimensioned to allow the dredger to be transported by truck.

Connection: The dredger is equipped with a rapid connection-disconnection system for the pontoons, the deck is fastened with bolts, and the front and rear bottoms of the hull are reinforced with hooks.

Power: The dredger is powered by one main diesel engine and one auxiliary engine, and the main diesel engine drives the dredging pump and the auxiliary engine drives hydraulic system.

Working principle: The main engine provides power, then the gear box will transit it to the sand pump, the former is driven to rotate and create vacuum in suction pipe. In this way, the mixture composed of mud, sand and water by the cutter head is sucked into the sand pump through the inlet pipeline, and then discharged by the pump to the appointed place through outlet pipeline which is connected to the outlet of the sand pump.

Important Core Component Description

Dredger Hull

The dredger hull is with dismantled type and box-like structure, consist by 1pc middle pontoon and 2pcs side pontoons, in order to transport convenient by truck, easy installation at working site. 

And it is sandblasted and painted by 4 layers of marine epoxy paint suitable for saltwater service. The zinc anode can be used to give better anti-corrosion function. 

All dredgers are made of special marine steel plates, which have been certified by CCS.

Marine Diesel Main Engine

The dredgers are equipped with world famous powerful engine, which are famous for it's durability, lower consumption, standardized accessories and easy maintenance. Power from 100-2500kW or as required.

Submersible pump

The submersible pump is installed on the cutter bridge ladder, the same as dredging pump in the main pontoon cabin. The sand mixture goes into the submersible pump from the suction pipe, then pumped into the dredging pump by the middle pipe, and finally discharged to floating pipelines by 2nd pump.

Testing before shipment

To ensure the good performance and safety, each ship must undergo complete test before leaving the factory, and it is tested like the machine working in the customer's working site. There will be test records during the testing process of dredging performance and safety.
